The app that’s helping women get a pay rise
Australia’s gender pay gap is currently at 14.1%. Women have found that their pay and conditions are different to men doing the same job as them. There is a new app called Pep Talk Her, it works by encouraging women to record their salary as well as their achievements, successes and wins at work, all of which becomes data to back up conversations about pay rise and promotions when the time comes. The app was created to change women’s views on their self-worth, and give them the tools to advocate and negotiate for themselves. It’s about the data and the confidence: women are great communicators but not always the best negotiators with the confidence. Women are often used to not wanting to rock the boat. Confidence is the key to a successful pay negotiation and hopefully this app gives it to women everywhere.
